The LG enV(2) is official

A day ahead of its scheduled announcement, Verizon decided to spill the beans and put out a press release announcing the LG enV(2), which is the genuine successor to the LG enV of years past. As we mentioned awhile ago, we originally thought the Voyager was the enV successor, but as it turns out, the Voyager is in a completely separate class. Which is fine, since the LG enV(2)--yes, we find the parentheses a little odd as well--is a pretty good-looking phone in its own right. Smooth and slim, it mimics the original enV design with a clamshell look when closed, and a full QWERTY keyboard when flipped open. Sure the display doesn't look as big, but it definitely looks far and away improved over the original enV. Its features aren't too shabby either; we're talking EV-DO support as well as access to Verizon's array of broadband services like V Cast Music and Video, VZ Navigator, stereo Bluetooth, a 2.0-megapixel camera, a microSD card slot, and an MP3 player.

The enV(2) will be available starting April for $129.99 after a $50 rebate and a two-year service agreement.

it seems like a down grade to me.
the clamshell design is always exciting but the front looks like that sprint phone
i think its called the upstage
i think the voyager should just be claimed the enV 3
vx9800 was the first
vx99000 was the second (env)
vx10000 is the third (voyager)
it makes perfect sense to follow the pattern
especially since they have consecutive model numbers

I'm gonna have to agree with ol' DDawg500, I do feel this 'upgrade' is truly a downgrade just by examining the outermost part of the phone.

i, personally, like the simplicity of the outer screen. and i love the qwerty keyboard, so all in all I'm thinking about buying the phone when it comes out! I'm excited!

well I do like simple designs. That's one of the reasons why I bought an iphone. But anyways I love screen. I don't like the front design and do believe that its simple but the screen is just too small. Another thing, they obviously are trying to make this thing into a music phone by replacing the camera button with a music button. I don't mind it but I'm not going to be happy about choosing the song I want to listen to on a really small screen like that. Sorry LG I'm going to have to agree that enV2 was a downgrade. Verizon, still hate you.

I had the chance to see this phone and what you guys don't realize is how much smaller it is than both the enV and the Voyager. It will have the basic features with a larger inside screen than the enV but has about the same feel as a blackberry pearl. Its pretty nice, I personally am waiting for the Curve but for those of you when want to enjoy a full Qwerty keyboard without all the bulk this just might be the perfect phone.

The wait is over ! The enV(2) will be in retail stores on April 30th. I will be one of the first to have it in Montana. I think this phone is definetly an upgrade over the old enV. It was just too big and heavy. The camera lenz makes the phone wobble when laid down flat....among other things I hate about the old enV. Ring in the new!

My wife and I both bought the new env2. I must say that we both absolutely love these phones and the keyboard is great and for a phone I think the camera takes good (not great but good) pictures. The sound quality during calls is fantastic also. all in all I would give this phone an 8 out of ten and would buy it again so go get one tey are a great phone.

My wife and I just got two of the LG Env(2) phones. What a GREAT PHONE! It's so small and lightweight, the voice quality is excellent, and the ease of use is really quite unusually effective. At first I thought the design was a little less elegant than some of the others, but it really grows on you. Buttons are better than touch screens, you know, and this phone has nice big ones. The design is highly logical and user-friendly, and optimized for the things most people actually use their phones for most of the time -- telephones. But the camera is also excellent, and the phone permits rudimentary picture editing (crop, rotate, etc.). The provided ringtones leave something to be desired, but that's my only real complaint.

I have the first version of the enV and I got it Christmas 2007. I love the first version. The second version's screen is too small, and the buttons are too big. It looks like a 'downgrade' like many others have said. It looks like they are trying to copy the 'iPhone' without the touchscreen. This phone is too 'futuristic' for me. I would have to give it two thumbs down. Sorry Verizon.

Just brought the enV 2 and I shopped around online and in stores. I must say i love the feel, style and function of it. It's stylish and very sleek. I like having more options with the photos i do take with it. I will have to add more ringtones-not too keen on the provided selection[but who really use the tones provided?]. Love the internal screen ..it is larger than the external. Makes adjusting your photos easy, as well as browsing your files, email etc. So don't know why people are complaining about the external screen being small. Just flip it open. Calls are so much clearer than my BB 8830. i love the new enV2. Its not bulky, looks and works great along with it's sophisticated style

I have had this phone for 3 weeks now, and I have to say that I am IMPRESSED!! It is small, yet the front keypad is large, and the inside is FANTASTIC!! The mp3 player is a plus! If you know how to download your CD's to your computer, then upload them to the micro sd card, you have officiallly uploaded music you already own!!!!! You are not "stealing" it, since you have already bought it!!!
