PSP gets pampered

(Credit: Slippery Brick)

All in all, it's been a pretty good week for Sony's PSP, at least in Japan. First it gets a new color in the special "Bronze Edition," and now it has its own cradle. The latter isn't designed to enhance the gaming experience, according to Slippery Brick, but to make it easier for Japanese consumers to watch TV on the device using that country's 1seg signals while charging it at the same time. It even comes with a remote for those viewers with good enough eyesight to watch the small screen from a distance. Other than that it looks fairly standard, which is a good thing given some of the possible alternatives.

Right platform, wrong country?

I still love my PSP, but more for what it's capable of doing than what it actually does. No TV streaming here in the home of DRM... and where's that GPS add-on that's been available in Japan since 2006? PSP rocks ...but only in Japan :(

Yeah, it's not the same as the service they have in Japan and it requires an internet connection and a Sony LocationFree base station, but it works and I've been doing it for a year now. It's nice being able to watch my home cable TV while traveling.
