Apple junkies, mark your calendars: iPhone on June 29

(Credit: Apple)

Not much else to say here, other than that Apple has made it official that the iPhone will be released on June 29. That's a Friday. This means, depending on your affiliations, that you can either breathe a sigh of relief that after the 29th you'll optimally stop hearing annoying iPhone rumors, or you can stop speculating and focus on raising that $600 to feed your addiction. Now go!

Update: Check out the iPhone TV ads!

I got the chance to use a 8gb test unit, for 25 minutes, which belongs to a friend with AT&T (Cingular). He was checking quality & availability of services in the VA & NC Blue Ridge Mountain region. I really like this phone! The iPod video features worked fine as long as I did not try to answer a phone call. From what I was told the video & sound should stop while I take a call then start back where it stopped. The phone I was using would show a scrambled screen when the call ended then start back at the beginning of the video. The Safari browser is not exactly like in OS X 10. It's very easy to use. When I would try to quickly go from one application to another, the phone would lock-up. When playing a game & talking on the phone, I answered a second call that came-in and my game locked-up then the whole phone turned off. I'm told the phone would have at least one software upgrade before it goes out to the public. I hope the problems I encountered get fixed because I am definately waiting in line to get one!

"breathe a sigh of relief that after the 29th you'll optimally stop hearing annoying iPhone rumors" Oh, it never ends, my friend. We're already seeing the humble beginnings of the iPhone 2 rumors.MY father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate works for Apple and said it will have 3G, a flexible, rollout screen and 3D hologram navigation!! I can't wait to see what these go for on Ebay. I bet some will reach into the 5 digit range. People really are stupid!

he says the first one will be very buggy and require multiple firmware updates to get all the kinks out. They are in fact working on an HSDPA version, but they are only toying with the technology, if in fact the HSDPA version is released, it will be more than a year from now. He also said they are going to reduce prices when they release the touch screen video ipod in January, along with updates to the macbook with the new operating system coming in the fall. He says everything is relative to time of coarse and cannot guarantee the dates on anything except the os update which comes in the fall.

the worst features of the Windows Mobile MDA
by U. Tripps June 4, 2007 10:28 AM PDT
Did anybody else ever try an MDA? I did for a month and got rid of it. It just so happens that a touch screen smartphone is not so great or intuitive as it sounds. Also, like the MDA, this thing is just too big.

At least by waiting for next year (for your iPhone), you'll probably get a 3G version. I know technology constantly changes but there's no way I'd want an EDGE device when 3G exists. (For me having Broadband speeds when I'm away from a WiFi Hotspot is key). I might as well go buy a B&W CRT television instead of a 1080p LCD television.
