Reminder: Don't drive into oncoming traffic
(Credit: Go Concepts)No offense to our friends across the pond, but there's apparently something about U.K. traffic that inspires questionable technologies. (Remember the "Taxi Hailer"?) Perhaps these concepts are born of frustration, a futile effort to try anything to lessen the madness of the road. Or maybe they're just dumb ideas.
Whatever the reason, now we have "qStart," a device that plugs into the cigrette lighter and vocalizes what Coolest-Gadgets calls a "friendly reminder" to make sure you know which side of the road to drive on. "Because it is often just as you start off from a parked position--after a rest break, shopping trip, petrol stop, visit to a local visitor attraction or overnight stop--that you forget to drive on the correct side of the road," according to its English manufacturer, which suggests a price of 10 pounds (about $20).
But we don't want to leave you with the impression that this gadget is totally superfluous: It also recommends that the driver "take a break" after two hours on the road. What a considerate little bloke.
