Free Guinness, Cuervo, and Johnnie Walker! The catch: Only in Second Life

Hey, I heard about a new advertising campaign that's giving away free Guinness, Jose Cuervo, Captain Morgan, and more...to your Second Life avatar. There are a lot of companies turning to the Linden Labs virtual world as a new means of marketing, and most of them seem a little bit gimmicky. The one that TheBar.com has just launched seems to have a bit more promise, though. Basically, they've worked with Second Life gurus Millions Of Us (who, by the way, also constructed CNET Networks' virtual office space) to develop a virtual "bar kit" for in-world drinking establishments.

TheBar.com is run by booze giant Diageo, also known as the company in charge of Guinness, Johnnie Walker, Jose Cuervo, Tanqueray, Crown Royal, Smirnoff, Bailey's, and plenty of other things that give you hangovers. So, if you're a Second Life bartender, you can now stock your cabinets for free with those brands if you're willing to install TheBar.com's ad-supported "bar kit."

Or, if your avatar is craving a Guinness, here are the in-game URLs for the three bars that currently stock Diageo brands: The Blarney Stone, The Witch's Brew, and the Aspire event space.

PS: No, sorry, I don't know where to get your avatar some virtual Excedrin for the morning after.
