Fuji to release two fives in early '07

Fujifilm FinePix Z5fd

Fujifilm decided to stop being coy and tell us when, and for how much, we'll be able to buy its recently announced S5 Pro dSLR and Z5fd ultracompact cameras. We first told you about the 6.3-megapixel FinePix Z5fd in November, but at the time we didn't know whether it would be sold in the U.S. at all. Now we can say with confidence that Fuji intends to ship the FinePix Z5fd in March 2007, and it will set you back about $230.

First deets on the FinePix S5 Pro hit the blogs back in September, and we were even lucky enough to get our greedy little fingers on a preproduction sample so we could make a video.

Now we know that the company plans to begin shipping its new $2,000 dSLR in February 2007. Fuji also released full specs for the camera. The most interesting spec we didn't previously know is the continuous shooting speed. Fuji says that the S5 Pro will be able to capture up to 3 frames per second in its fastest continuous shooting mode and with the camera's dynamic range set to standard instead of wide. In the same mode except with the dynamic range set to wide, Fuji rates it at up to 1.5fps, which is a little slow for a pro-level camera. At least Fuji was wise enough to offer the standard dynamic range option in case you need to speed things up.
